Book Review
In my opinion the book Moneyball is a great story, which relates to the world of business. I would recommend this book to any baseball fan, interested in knowing about the business part of the game. This book will explore the behind the scenes action of scouting players. The book also contains many interesting characters. The protagonist of the book Billy Beane, is a great character who faces a lot of challenges because of his new theory of scouting. Although Billy will be criticized, you will see that he does not give up. The main problem for Billy, is that his team the Oakland A's has the lowest payroll in all of baseball. He cannot exceed this payroll because not many people are paying to see their games. In order for Billy to keep his job, he must find a championship team that he can afford. To help with this process, Billy hires Yale graduate Peter Brand to create statistic player analyses. Peter will be a key character in this book because of his contributions with creating statistics. These stats will help Billy get a better sense of player’s talents. With this new theory, Billy and Peter will try to lead their team to a championship. Along the way, without knowing, the Oakland A’s will change the game of baseball with their new theory.
